"The years start coming and they don't stop coming" for Shrek as the movie hits its 19th anniversary since first being featured in theatre's in 2001.
Despite not making any more movies, Dreamwork's studios wanted to commemorate its beloved film as a thank you to the devoted ogre fans who made the studio as big as it is today, by creating an anniversary box featuring all of the hit soundtracks and all four movies.
Time to enter the swamp and into memory lane!

Mood Board
For 19 years, Shrek has shaped our generation into what it is today with its underrated jokes and inspiring others to embrace their inner ogre. For its 19th anniversary, Dream Works wants to make a modern DVD box that would include all of the Shrek movies and soundtrack list included on the box for those who want to relive their favorite scenes (because who doesn’t want to be an all-star?).
The box will honor the iconic Shrek colors which are greens and browns. It would be silhouettes of the memorable characters in the movies as shown in the mood-board, the silhouettes would be placed strategically and in a way that it doesn’t blend into the background.
The top left corner is what the original movie box for Shrek looked like many years ago and it’s what the company wants to use as inspiration. The swamp wood bark to help display the feel of the box coming from Shrek’s swamp.
Lastly, I included the typeface, “sauna” from adobe fonts since it showed resemblance to the title treatment used in the movies.
The message Dream works wants to share with its loyal ogres that Shrek is not going anywhere and will always be celebrated with or without a fifth movie.

Sketches
These are the original ideas I had for the boxes and DVD/CD set to look like. I really wanted to incorporate that swamp feel throughout the box by using the swamp wood texture, the muddy Shrek title from the first movie, and the iconic imagery and characters as well.
For the CD/DVD set, I wanted to make the DVDs from the Shrek 1-4 movies silhoutte of the characters and the soundtrack CD a giant Shrek S.
The inside and outside of the DVD/CD cases are all going to be cohesive design wise to show unity within the dreamwork's and Shrek theme by having the outside of the cases the Dreamwork's clouds and containing inside the iconic Shrek green and imagery from each movie.

Design Dieline
Main Box
Some of the original Ideas I had for the boxes had to be altered for cleanliness reasons and also wanted it to be more personal to the movies from over the years. The left side of the box contains quotes from the Shrek movies, the middle box is a homage to the "Beware Ogres!" sign in the first movie, and the right side is the soundtrack list for the CD.
Second Box
This second box goes inside the main box which contains all of the Shrek movie DVD's and soundtrack. The main characters of the movies are not in silhouette form but the supporting characters are.
